Why Did I choose to start a home based business resource site?

Welcome to The Mom's Cafe'. My goal is to introduce stay at home mothers to home based business, home business ideas, home based jobs, money saving tips, parenting resources, forums, and bargain shopping.  This site is your key to successfully making money from home. 

My name is Robyn Johnson, I am a stay at home mother of two girls, Haylie and Lauren.  I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and I continued my post graduate studies in the field of Social Work.  Before completing my college career, I was the Regional Director of Administration for Southern California for nine years.

Although I have a somewhat thorough and well-rounded educational and business background, I found out the hard way that trying to pioneer a career from a home office seemed next to impoosible.  I was really determined when I had my first child to find a job that would allow me to work from home, so I could make some extra money and stay at home with my daughter.  I guess one could say I was the "classic" case study for what not to do when trying out home based career options.  I tried everything, and I became increasingly frustrated with my options.

It took me three years and a second child to finally figure out that in order to become a sucessful home based working mother, I needed to take matters into my own hands.  I learned about selling children's clothing on Ebay from another mom friend, I tried it out, and I was instantly "hooked".  From that point, I opened my first online business on Ebay, Dragonflies and Ladybugs.  In two years, I was able to generate a little extra money and become a Power Seller with over 50 subscribers to our monthly store newsletter. 

I learned a lot from this experience, and although I still have my store, I have switched my focus to creating a supportive and informative site for other mother's to learn and start their own home based business.  Since I wasted a lot of time, money, and energy searching for the right combination of resources that worked for my business ventures, I wanted to provide other mother's with a site that was all inclusive with these useful resources and best of all FREE!!!!!
